Veleposlanica RS Tanja Strniša, delegacija Občine Žalec in partner RAS na poslovnem obisku Žatca/ Ambassador Tanja Strniša (SI), delegation of the Žalec Municipality and partner DAS on a business visit to Žatec (CZ) 27. – 30.1.2022

EN Ambassador Tanja Strniša (SI), together with the Mayor of Žalec Janko Kos, employees of the Municipality of Žalec and the Savinja Development Agency visited the Žatec municipality (CZ), where they were greeted by Deputy Mayor Radim Laibl. Žatec is the centre of hop production in the Czech Republic and has, similar to Žalec,  a hop institute and a hop museum, which is the largest in the world with more than 4,000 m2. Both two municipalities have been cooperating for more than 50 years. Stojan Praprotnik presented excellent bilateral cooperation on the basis of testing biodegradable twine on Žatec hop fields and summarized the key results of the LIFE BioTHOP project. In addition to the hop museum, the delegation also had a short tour of the capital. The Czech Republic and Slovenia are among the largest producers of hops in the world, so the introduction of a circular economy in the field of hop composting is very welcome.
